Epithet - after Lady Macgregor, whose husband was Lieutenant Govenor of Papua, a
dedicated explorer and plant collector.

The clone 'Paddy Woods' is named after the collector, botanist and horticulturalist who worked at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and went on several collecting expeditions to SE Asia.

The clone 'Tom Grieve' is named for the plantsman who maintained the Vireya Collection at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh for a number of years and was the first person to persuade Rhododendron saxifragoides to flower in cultivation.
